Bottling and preserving
There are many methods of preserving and bottling fruits, we suggest to achieve the best results you should always follow a trusted recipe and follow the instructions exactly. Here we have listed a few basic rules to ensure successful preserving:- Always clean jars before use. Wash the jars thoroughly and rinse in clean hot water, ensure the surfaces are free from chips, scratches or any remnants of food.
- Avoid the use of metallic or abrasive sponges and allow the jars to dry naturally.
- When preserving any food it is essential to sterilize before use.
- Rubber seals can be dipped in boiling water before use to sterlize them.
- Fill the jar and leave appropriate space between the preserve and underside of the lid (usually 1-2 cm).
- Ensure the jar rim is perfectly clean and the rubber rings are positioned correctly.
- Close the jar lid and secure the clip.
- Process the jars using your preferred method or following your recipe instructions.
- As the jars cool the clip holds the lid firmly in place while the vacuum is forming.
- After the jar has cooled check a vacumm seal has formed bt releasing the clip. the lid should reamin firmly attached to the base. If a vacuum has formed, close the clip and store in a cool dry place, away from the light.
